The flight over the Himalayas and the landing in Leh is an adventure in itself and even when you are tired from your long journey, that experience will wake you right up. Our guide is already waiting for at the airport in Leh and will bring you to your guesthouse/Hotel. On the first day you can relax and only relax to better acclimatize to the high altitude. Morning: visit the palace of Stok and Matho monastery. Back to the hotel for lunch. Stock is located 14 km south of Leh, on the left bank of the Indus. The palace was built in 1840 when the king of Ladakh was exiled there after his defeat by the invading Dogra. At the Palace Museum are exposed, the royal crown, clothes, a coin collection, and peyraks (ceremonial headdress) decorated with turquoise. Matho is the only monastery of the Ladakhi saskyapa order. It was built by the great Lama Tungpa Dorjey the fifteenth century. He came with seven deities of Tibet, two of them remained at the monastery of Matho. The fifteenth day of the first Tibetan month, a festival that allows these two deities incarnate in monks, trance after a period make oracles for many residents of Ladakh (and later) coming consult them. Afternoon: visit the monastery of Sankar. Afternoon, visit to the monastery of Sankar. At the heart of the Leh valley, the impression was of being in a place cut off from the world while the city center is only a few kilometers ... Thirty monks live and follow the order Gelukpa it. In the evening, often from 17 hours, you can attend the daily puja in the main temple. After the visit, a pleasant walk of half an hour can reach the city center. In the morning, the road to Likir, passing through several villages in the valley. Likir is one of the most important monasteries of the Gelukpa order, built on a hill overlooking the valley. It was founded by a great Tibetan master in the eleventh century. After visiting Likir drive to Alchi monasteries known for his paintings of the eleventh century of great beauty. The monastery complex has five temples. Each has a particular splendor with Kashmiri-Tibetan paintings. Back to Leh. 4 hours drive. 130 km. Overnight : Hotel Meals : BB Elevation - 3500 m
Morning transfer by vehicle to reach the starting point of the trek. En route visit Shey and Thiksey. Shey: oldest palace of Ladakh, built in the ninth century by the first king of Ladakh, remained the capital until the fifteenth century. The remains of the old castle are still witness to the foundation of the kingdom of Ladakh. In the palace which was built in the seventeenth century, we find beautiful paintings. Thiksey Gompa: well located on a hill was built by one of the disciples of Tsonkhapa, the founder of the Gelukpa order. Currently, about one hundred monks live and practice the order Gelukpa it. Then, drive to Stakmo, remote village in the road, in the high valley of Thiksey. Settling at the camp and explore the village in the afternoon. 27 km, 1 hour drive. Morning departure of the trek. The road through the village to go up to the pass (4200 m) which closes the valley. Aarzo, consists of a few sheep, is the summer pasture where the inhabitants of the lower valley spend the summer months. In the morning, the trek continues towards Nang. A short descent into the valley before to go back to cross a mountain pass (3900 m). A side path leads to the village of Nang. The villagers see some hikers go in these places ignored by all. In the afternoon, stroll into the village to discover the traditional life. 4 – 5 Hrs of walking. A steady climb brings you to Kildirma La pass (4650 m), descent along a valley that leads to the main valley. Sakti, long stretch valley, home to two famous monasteries of Ladakh. Takthok, built around a cave where Guru Padmasambhava Grandmaster meditated and Chemrey, built in the seventeenth century. 6-7 hours of walking. Today gradually ascend walk up to Warila pass ( 5280 m ), the pass offers spectacular views of mountains in the north Kharakoram range and in the south Ladakh and Zansker range, you may be lucky to sport a wild animal like mountain goat, mermaid, different species of birds and domestic Yaks etc. From the pass a well – defined trail takes you all the way down to Doksa of Tangyar villager. 6 – 7 Hrs of walking. Today descend walk till to the village Tangyar, the trail winds past Yak herders camps where the villagers from Tangyar and Digar villagers graze their herds during the summer months. After evening tea we walk around village and visit local house. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3800 m
After breakfast we walk around 1 to 2 Hrs and drive to Disket the capital of Nubra valley. Or We drive around 1 Hrs till River than by rafting till Khalsar in 3 to 4 Hrs duration and than drive to Disket. Overnight : Hotel Meals : BLD Elevation : 3000 m
Today first half of the day drive and visit Sumur monastery and after lunch visit Disket monastery and evening two hump camel ride at around Hunder sand dunes and visit palace and Gonpa. Overnight in same Guest House. Nubra valley is a tri-armed valley located to the north east of Ladakh valley. Diskit the capital of Nubra is about 150 km north from Leh town, the capital of Ladakh district, India. Local scholars say that its original name was Ldumra ( the valley of flowers). The Shyok River meets the Nubra or Siachan River to form a large valley that separates the Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. The Shyok river is a tributary of the Indus river. The average altitude of the valley is about 3048 m above the sea level. The common way to access this valley is to travel over the Khardung La pass from Leh town. Foreign nationals are required to get a protected area permit to visit the Nubra Valley. Nubra is a high altitude cold desert with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds. The villages are irrigated and fertile, producing wheat, barley, peas, mustard and a variety of fruits and nuts, including blood apples, walnuts, apricots and even a few almond trees. The majority are Buddhists. In the western or lowest altitude end of Nubra Valley near the Line of Control i.e. the Indo-Pak border, along the Shayok River, the inhabitants are Balti of Gilgit Baltistan, who speak Balti.
