The flight over the Himalayas and the landing in Leh is an adventure in itself and even when you are tired from your long journey, that experience will wake you right up. Our guide is already waiting for at the airport in Leh and will bring you to your guesthouse/Hotel. On the first day you can relax and only relax to better acclimatize to the high altitude. Today after breakfast will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries around Leh. Shey palace, is about 15 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. Shey palace was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning of 17'Th century AD. Main attraction in Shey is the 12m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside the palace Du-khang. Thiksey Monastery, close to Shey is about 17 kms from Leh. The monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Ladakh and belongs to the Gelukspa order. Hemis monastery, about 45 kms south of Leh, it is one of the most famous and largest monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Drukpa order and was founded in the early 17'Th century. Today after breakfast drive to Alchi and visit monastery, situated at a distance of 68 kms from Leh, which were built on lowlands rather than on a hilltop as others, in order to protect from enemies. The chortens around Alchi gompa contains numerous wall murals of Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo, who has built this monastery. Alchi monastery has vast collections of wall paintings, and wood sculpture. Continue to drive to Lamayuru which is 58 kms from Alchi. Oldest monastery in Ladakh, founded by Indian scholar Mahasiddhacharya Naropa in 11th century. Lamayuru host mask dance festival (Yuru Kabgyat) during 17th and 18th day of fifth months of the Tibetal Lunar calendar. It belongs to red hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism, monastery is rich with Thankas and wall paintings. Lamayuru monastery was constructed by Arahat Nimagung in between 10th and 11th century. History says that in the 11th century the Mahasidha Naropa visited this place and the cave where he resided and meditated is still to be seen inside the monastery. Morning after breakfast will start first day trek following our guide to Kanji la base. On the way couple of river cross of Kanji river. Walk along Kanji valley before reach to the base of Kanji la Pass, there is opportunity to visit nomadic camp. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4320 m
Today cross the first pass of the trek. It will be a hard and long day walk via crossing Kanjila pass ( 5150 m ). Today trek will be start early in the morning because there is long way to climb to the Knaji la. It will take around 3 / 4 hours to reach at the top of the pass. From the top panoramic view of beautiful Nun Kun peak, Ladakh range and Zanskar ranges. After short break on pass, long descend walk till the Rangdum river. Morning after the breakfast crossing the river and around 3 Hrs walk to right side of valley to turned to Pigdongla pass ( 4895 m ) from there view of Dipling valley after leaving the pass, snow slopes and then rocks lead to a gulch down with the zigzag path brings out past fantastic rock walls and towers on either side to the wide valley. And continue walk to Dipling pullu. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4260 m
Today stroll easily down the left-hand side of the valley past some deserted houses and some abandon bairley fields before coming to the river entering from the left. From here after a crossing of river reach at pretty village of Dipling where there are about 14 to 15 houses and a small Gompa. The Gompa, as with virtually all Ladakhi villages, sits above the village and it is well worth to explore around. It is a Yellow Hat Gompa, whose main figures are Shakyamuni Buddha, Maitreya (Buddha of the future), and Zongkhapa ( the founder of the Gelukpa Yellow Hat Sect). Leaving the village, will follow a relatively newly-built footpath, walk along the Dipling village and cross the river several times. It is just over three hours to the Barmila pass ( 4680 m ) and an easy gradual path until the last 300 metres which is a little steeper. Looking back, the views are inspiring – ranges of snow peaks. As get higher, the trail turns to the left and then again to the right. The pass itself is broad, with a Stupa ( Chorten ) and prayer flags. It is such a thrill to get to the pass and look down into the valley containing the village and monastery of Lingshed, and the peaks marching off into the far distance. From the pass long descend, but the views go on improving of Lingshed village, surrounding mountains and its wonderful monastery. End of descend the path passing through the houses and fields to climb back up again to reach the monastery and then to camp. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4010 m
The path winds its way from the monastery, climbing steadily under huge rock walls to a chorten which lead up to the Great views of the whole valley of Lingshed, from here continue climb to another large chorten, and then 2 to 3 hrs walk to the Murgum La ( 4310 m ) and from here looks down into a deep valley with a small hamlet at the bottom and a steep mountainside blocking the way forward. After zigzagging walk up to the Kiupa La Pass ( 4465 m ) from here gradually ascend and descend walk to village of Yulchung. It is almost like a secret path and brings out above the village of Yulchung. Coming down towards Yulchung, corssing a large house standing above a patchwork of fields, and above the village a small temple built top of a pile of rock. Leaving Yulchung continue trek with gentle climb to cross the small easy pass Chuchokhuri La ( 3970 m ). Cross the pass then steep zig zag descent till Zanskar River. Cross the River over a wooden bridge and then begin to climb towards Nyerak village. Evening walk and explore around small and charming village. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 3750 m
Morning after breakfast, continue slowly and steadily climb to reach at the top of Labar la ( 3980 m ). From here spectacular and magnificent view of landscape. After crossing the pass, continue gentle climb towards the Tarti la ( 4950 m). From the top overwhelming panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and wonderful landscape. From here easy descent down till reach near a river, cross the river and then continue trek down along the downstream to beautiful campsite. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 3730 m
As usual morning after breakfast, continue trek along with the river. Today again several rivers crossing so, it is advisable to carry extra shoes in day bag. After then continue easy trek along the valley up to the campsite. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 3650 m
After the breakfast, continue trek with gentle climb towards a small and easy pass, cross the pass and continue easy path up along the valley towards Namtse-la ( 4400 m ). From the top of the pass enchanting and magnificent panoramic view of landscape. Cross the Namtse-la Pass and then easy descend till reach at Honara. Continually descend down till foot of the mountain and walk a kilometer on motor road and then arrive at Campsite across the meadows near Zanskar River. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 3430 m
Today rest at Zangla, after breakfast visit Nunnery monastery and royal palace of Zangla. Here we can also get resupply of second part of the trek. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 3500 m
Leave camp after breakfast for Zangla Sumdo and continue the trek for half hours on the right bank of Zanskar River then turn left towards gorge. From here couple of river crossing which comes from the gorge several times till you reach at Zangla Sumdo. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 3850 m
Leave camp after breakfast to Niri Doksa, take left valley and start ascent towards Niri la ( 5150 m ). It will take about 3 hrs to reach Niri la. While enjoying the breath-taking and spectacular view of landscape, from here descend downwards easily for one and half hour till reach at Niri Doksa ( summer pastureland of Shade Village). After breakfast, leave camp for Nari. Follow the trek route and continue easy walk along the left bank of downstream river. Then the route gradually goes up towards the top of Lar-la ( 4850 m ). Gently ascend up for about two hours to reach at the top. From the top, enjoy the view of imposing landscape of surrounding mountain. After cross the pass, then easy descent for 2 hrs till reach at Ningri ( summer pastureland of Shade village). Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4370 m
Leave camp after breakfast for Tangtak. Right from the camp gradually climb up towards the Rothang la pass (5000 m). From the top, take pleasure of amazing and magnificent view of landscape and surrounding snow-capped peaks. After cross the top, then gently descend down and continue easy trek as far as Nari. On the way, pass across several Nomads with their animals like Yaks, Cows, Sheep and goat etc, we also passing through the Shade village. Late afternoon visit Tangtak village and local house. Morning after breakfast, while enjoying the sunshine and view of remarkable towering mountains, continue easy trek along the left bank of river till reach Tantak village. Visit monastery then keep on by crossing a river. After the river, take left route and gradually ascend up as far as Base of Nialo-Kontse-la. We also visit the Tsotok lake and walk continue to Nialo Kontse base. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4300 m
Leave camp after breakfast start ascending trek to the top of Nialo Kastse-la ( 4850 m ) approximately one and half hours of trek) . While enjoying the view of spectacular landscape, continue trek by taking the left cliff of the mountain then small plans for about one hour walk to base of Gotunda-la ( 5100 m ). Ascend gradually for one hour till reach at the top of Guntunda-la. After enjoying the awesome view of huge towering magnificent mountains, descend easily down as far as camp near river. As usual after breakfast, continue easy trek by taking clear route on the left bank of river till reach at Shun Sumdo Village. Pass the village and take left bank of Tserap River till reach at Satok. On the way cross Zara river which comes from Rupshu Valley. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4100 m
Leave camp after breakfast for Tsognetsik along the Tsarap river walk to Satok village. From Satok, the route is going up and down. Continue along the route by crossing three ridges ( three small passes ) as far as Tsogmetsik. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4220 m
From the camp steep climb till Morang la pass ( 5300 m ) and from panoramic view of Ladakh and Zanskar range mountains. The other side trek is initially steep leading to a broad plateau and a gradual descent walk to Takstago. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4535 m
Today easy ascend and descend walk up to Bongla pass ( 4670 m ) which the last pass of the trek, from the pass as usual panoramic view of surrounding mountains of Zanskar and Ladakh ranges. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4480 m
Morning start walking along the river following is downstream, en route cross a small village of Nomad and cross Stupa, today we may meet nomad people of Kharnak region. Overnight: Camp Meals: BLD Elevation: 4520 m
After breakfast, drive to Leh via Taklangla 5300 m ( the world's second highest motorable pass). On the way may able to see wild Asses ( Tibetan Skyang). And then long journey on Manali – Leh highway but en-route wonderful view of enchanting landscape, tremendous view of mountains of mighty Himalaya and several charming villages.
