Itinerary

Arrival at Delhi airport late in the evening. Reception and transfer to the domestic airport.

The flight over the Himalayas and the landing in Leh is an adventure in itself and even when you are tired from your long journey, that experience will wake you right up. Our guide is already waiting for at the airport in Leh and will bring you to your guesthouse/Hotel. On the first day you can relax and only relax to better acclimatize to the high altitude. (It is a conscious decision not having planned any activities on the first day, it is crucial for your adaptation to the high altitude!) Overnight : Hotel Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Morning: visit the palace of Stok and Matho monastery. Back to the hotel for lunch. Stock is located 14 km south of Leh, on the left bank of the Indus. The palace was built in 1840 when the king of Ladakh was exiled there after his defeat by the invading Dogra. At the Palace Museum are exposed, the royal crown, clothes, a coin collection, and peyraks (ceremonial headdress) decorated with turquoise. Matho is the only monastery of the Ladakhi saskyapa order. It was built by the great Lama Tungpa Dorjey the fifteenth century. He came with seven deities of Tibet, two of them remained at the monastery of Matho. The fifteenth day of the first Tibetan month, a festival that allows these two deities incarnate in monks, trance after a period make oracles for many residents of Ladakh (and later) coming consult them. Afternoon: visit the monastery of Sankar. Afternoon, visit to the monastery of Sankar. At the heart of the Leh valley, the impression was of being in a place cut off from the world while the city center is only a few kilometers ... Thirty monks live and follow the order Gelukpa it. In the morning, the road to Likir, passing through several villages in the valley. Likir is one of the most important monasteries of the Gelukpa order, built on a hill overlooking the valley. It was founded by a great Tibetan master in the eleventh century. After visiting Likir drive to Alchi monasteries known for his paintings of the eleventh century of great beauty. The monastery complex has five temples. Each has a particular splendor with Kashmiri-Tibetan paintings. 4 hours drive. 130 km. Overnight : Hotel Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Morning transfer by vehicle to reach the starting point of the trek. En route visit Shey and Thiksey. Shey, oldest palace of Ladakh, built in the ninth century by the first king of Ladakh, remained the capital until the fifteenth century. The remains of the old castle are still witness to the foundation of the kingdom of Ladakh. In the palace which was built in the seventeenth century, we find beautiful paintings. Thiksey Gompa, well located on a hill was built by one of the disciples of Tsonkhapa, the founder of the Gelukpa order. Currently, about one hundred monks live and practice the order Gelukpa it. Then, drive to Stakmo, remote village in the road, in the high valley of Thiksey. Settling at the camp and explore the village in the afternoon. 27 km, 1 hour drive. Morning departure of the trek. The road through the village to go up to the pass (4200 m) which closes the valley. Aazo, consists of a few sheep, is the summer pasture where the inhabitants of the lower valley spend the summer months. In the afternoon, walk through the valley, reading, rest, contemplation. 4-5 hours of walking. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3800 m

In the morning, the trek continues towards Nang. A short descent into the valley before to go back to cross a mountain pass (3900 m). A side path leads to the village of Nang. The villagers see some hikers go in these places ignored by all.In the afternoon, stroll into the village to discover the traditional life. 4-5 hours of walking. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3700 m

A steady climb brings you to Kildirma La pass (4650 m), descent along a valley that leads to the main valley. Sakti, long stretch valley, home to two famous monasteries of Ladakh. Takthok, built around a cave where Guru Padmasambhava Grandmaster meditated and Chemrey, built in the seventeenth century. 5-6 hours of walking. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3700 m

Short descent into the valley through fields of barley, before climbing to the pass that leads to the hamlet of Kulum. The path is not very well defined, progression is slower. 4-5 hours of walking. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3800 m

Quiet start in the bottom of the valley. Gradual rise himself up to cross the neck of Phuktse. Ultimate and long descent to the village of Phuktse. 4-5 hours of walking. Overnight : Home Stay Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Road back to Leh. Lunch. Free afternoon to make your last purchases. 30 km, 1 hour drive. Overnight : Hotel Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Early wake up for transfer to the airport. Flight Leh-Delhi. Arrive Delhi. Free afternoon. Overnight at hotel. (Breakfast)

Day off. The guide will be available to organize these few hours in Delhi. We should leave the rooms before noon. A room for four participant is retained in order to take a shower. In the evening, transfer to Delhi airport for the return flight.

The highest point of the trek is Warila Pass at 5,280 meters.

Inner Line Permits are required for Nubra Valley, which we arrange in advance.
