The flight over the Himalayas and the landing in Leh is an adventure in itself and even when you are tired from your long journey, that experience will wake you right up. Our guide is already waiting for at the airport in Leh and will bring you to your guesthouse/Hotel. On the first day you can relax and only relax to better acclimatize to the high altitude. Full day Sight seeing of Stok palace, museum and Matho monastery. Matho is a only a monastery belonging with the Saskya order. It was founded in the 16th century by Lama Tunga Dorjey and the gompa was named ‘’Thupstan Sharling Choskor. Stok Palace and museum were built in the year 1825, by king Tsespal Tondup Namgail, after the Zorawars annexation of Ladakh. The Royal family resides here since Ladakh lost to Zorawar Singh. Following acclimatization to visit the upper valley of the indus and the great monastery of shey, Thiksey and Hemis. Shey was the capital kingdom in the thirteen century. Continue to Hemis which is the most important monestry of Ladakh on the spiritual plane. It includes under its authority more the 500 monks. Built in 1605, visit the Thiksay monastery, located on the right bank of indus, in about twenty kilometers from leh.this monastery is rebuilt in the fifteen century is dedicated to Maitreya Buddha, the future Buddha. Drive to Liker ( 3450 M ) and gradual climb to a small pass, the Pobe La ( 3700 meters ) from there pass descending and ascending walk up to Charatse la ( 3650 meters ). And walk down to Yangthang village. Overnight : Homestay Meals : BLD Elevation : 3640 m
First one hour flat and gradual walking till the bottom of the Ltakspe La ( 3600 meters ) and than one hour ascending path until to summit before an easy descent toward the Hemis Shukpachan village, a major village, the name of which comes from the Juniper tree ( Shukpa ) which are found in this valley. Same as previous day first one hour flat walk and then 20m steep descend, to valley floor and walk across the mountainside ( right hand side ) and futher one hour climbing over a rather steep uphill to the summit of Metak La ( 3560 meters ). From there another half an hour descent toward the village of Ang and flat walk to the Temisgam village and drive to Lamayuru. Evening Visit Monestry. After breakfast we drive to Zingchen and short walk up to the camp side. After lunch Guide will give you briefing about next day program. We explore in the morning and evening different valley like Namlung and Shanlung. We also keep and touch with local people regarding Snow leopards movements, because they are very familiar about it. When we walk in different valley we find some Snow leopards signs or marks like fresh Paw, Screech, Rub, on the surface of rock are the Snow leopard behaviors. When we walk we need to carry binocular, Camera, walking stick, water bottle are the main things you need to carry yourself. It's very easy to find their mark like Paw on fresh snow, but not on ground when they move one valley to another follow other wild animals. We explore this entire valley according snow leopard movement and local information. Yes some time luck is also very important role in adventure. Here you know how they live in a very harsh weather in winter place like in Ladakh. So we are not given any guarantee to see snow Leopards. Searching the snow leopard is not like a watching in the TV channel like Discovery and National Geography here you may know how much difficulty to be face. Overnight in Homestay or camp. Start today start early to cross the Stok pass, the trek gets steeper as get closer to the pass ( 4900M ), from the pass enjoy the breathtaking panoramic view form Zanskar and Khara Kuram range after short break a long descent walk through a narrow valley to reach at Stok. On arrival at Stok our vehicle will takes us to Leh in 20 minutes’ drive. Overnight : Hotel Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m
