This 20-day trek offers an extensive exploration of Ladakh, beginning with essential acclimatization in Leh and visits to significant cultural sites like Shey, Thiksey, Hemis, and Lamayuru monasteries. The journey involves traversing diverse terrains, including the Markha Valley, and venturing into remote regions such as Dat and the stunning Tso Moriri lake. Along the way, trekkers will navigate challenging high passes, encounter nomadic communities in the Changtang plateau, and have the opportunity to observe unique wildlife, providing a deep immersion into the natural beauty and cultural richness of Ladakh.

Itinerary

The flight over the Himalayas and the landing in Leh is an adventure in itself and even when you are tired from your long journey, that experience will wake you right up. Our guide is already waiting for at the airport in Leh and will bring you to your guesthouse/Hotel. On the first day you can relax and only relax to better acclimatize to the high altitude. (It is a conscious decision not having planned any activities on the first day, it is crucial for your adaptation to the high altitude!) Overnight : Hotel Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Visit the upper valley of the Indus and the great monasteries of Shey , Thiksey and Hemis. Shey was the capital of kingdom in the thirteenth century. We then visit the Thiksey Monastery , situated on the right bank of the Indus, at about twenty kilometers from Leh. This monastery rebuilt in the fifteenth century is dedicated to Maitreya. Drive to Stok visit palace museum and short walk up to Stok Gorge and back to Stok and Leh. Overnight : Hotel Riwang Residency Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Drive from Leh to Alchi to visit Ladakh’s oldest monastery and drive continue to Lamayuru. Overnight : Hotel Namkila Meals : BLD Elevation : 3500 m

This is one of the most beautiful days of hiking in terms of scenery. The color changes as a function of the rocks of daylight and contrasts with the green of the village of Lamayuru . We climb to the Prinki pass (3700 m). After a short break, we begin our descent Wanla. After lunch short transfer along the river to the villages Yapola Phanjilla then Hinju (4000 m). Then we walk within the space of a valley that cuts through the arid mountains and colourful sometimes rocky ends set with ice, single point water provides an oasis of greenery. Difficult first day of the trek with the pass of Konzke -La ( 4900 m). We gradually climb to pass on a good path zig- zag . After enjoying the view we descend to the place of our camp.Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3900 m Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3900 m

We walk along the river, rocky needles sharp rise in the sky ... and then we see a little greenery, a few trees and fields of barley, the village of Sumda Chenmo is near. After breakfast visit monastery and made a lunch break at the river we start the climb of Dundunchen . Overnight : Camp Meals : BB Elevation : 4200 m

Mounted without difficulty as to progressive cervical Dundunchen ( 4700 m). Cervical we see the path The Konzke since , it is a fascinating spectacle of chaotic mix of colorful rocks , gray shale and serpentine green , ocher , brown and red ... the surrounding mountains. We then begin a long descent to the Zanskar river gorges to the beautiful village of Chilling (3200 m). Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3200 m

We cross the Zanskar river by boat and enter the Markha valley . . Day of walking and easy without gradients Overnight :- Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3500 m

We ascend the valley of Marka . We cross several times wading or bridges. This is one of the most beautiful valleys of Ladakh where green fields contrast with arid colored rocks . Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3700 m

We are still going through a few times Markha river before reaching the village of Homalung . progressively the valley widens the imposing massif Kangyatse . We continue our walk and cross Hangkar ( 3930 m ), the highest village in the Markha Valley . Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 3930 m

A day walking around the neck Zalung La. We passed through several small villages : Tikyu, Langtang Chen . Night at the foot of the pass. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 4600 m

A long but gradual climb to the Col de La Zalung , where we have a breathtaking view of the massive Zanskar and the massive Kangyatse . After a well deserved break, we begin a long descent to the village of Sorra. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 4200 m

We finish our trek to the Markha valley Dat , one of the many villages of shepherds in the area. Day by descent to the magnificent gorges Dat . We walk along the Chang chu river winds through a valley heavenly . We are in a small secluded paradise of the world. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 4340 m

We take the road (2h ) towards Changtang plateau south of the valley of Markha few kilometers from Tibet. We change completely discovery. Lovers of the great outdoors will enjoy it ! In summer, many nomads come to graze their herds of goats , sheep, horses and yaks in the meadows this region. Lakes Changtang also welcome each year many protected bird species Migratory . Arrival at Lake Tsokar, we set up camp and walk to the lake. The red ocher mountains landscape surrounding reflected in the turquoise water of the lake. This is also an opportunity to observe birds. We begin our trek towards the lake Tso Moriri . We are in a hilly area with large pastures where nomads graze their cattle Champas summer. We regularly come across nomads camps. We are going to meet them and set up camp near their camp. We walk to the neck of The Horlam, with the backdrop of many peaks over 6000 m of massive Korzog and Rupsu. The ascents and descents are gradual, and relatively minor height differences. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 4920 m

We spend two passes over 5000 meters, but thanks to our acclimatization trek this day only not represent a particular challenge, especially since the collars are mounted relatively progressive. Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation :-5000 m

This is the last day of walking that allows us to reach the village of Korzog , located on Lake Tso Moriri , Undes the highest lakes in the world . The lake covers an area of approximately 120 km 2. This lake is a major place of birds breeding and inevitable stop flyway over 40 species of waterbirds . Korzog is inhabited year round by Champas . Overnight : Camp Meals : BLD Elevation : 4540 m

Morning visit the monastery Korzog , then we take the road to return to Leh. Overnight : Hotel Riwang Residency Meals : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Meet and transfer to city visit old Delhi evening transfer to International return flight.

The highest pass on the trek is Kongmaru La at 5160m.
