Itinerary

The flight over the Himalayas and the landing in Leh is an adventure in itself and even when you are tired from your long journey, that experience will wake you right up. Our guide is already waiting for at the airport in Leh and will bring you to your guesthouse/Hotel. On the first day you can relax and only relax to better acclimatize to the high altitude. (It is a conscious decision not having planned any activities on the first day, it is crucial for your adaptation to the high altitude!) Overnight : Hotel Meal : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Morning visit Stok, Shey and Thiksay monasteries. Overnight in Leh. Overnight: Hotel Meal : BB Elevation: 3500 m

Today drive over highest motorable pass in the world ( 5680 M ) Khardzong la pass, to the cold desert of Nubra valley. Through the Nubra valley passes the ancient trade routes between Tibet and central asia. After lunch visit Panamic hot spring, summer monastery and village. Nubra valley: Nubra is a tri-armed valley located to the north east of Ladakh valley. Diskit the capital of Nubra is about 150 km north from Leh town, the capital of Ladakh district, India. Local scholars say that its original name was Ldumra ( the valley of flowers). The Shyok River meets the Nubra or Siachan River to form a large valley that separates the Ladakh and Karakoram Ranges. The Shyok river is a tributary of the Indus river. The average altitude of the valley is about 3048 m above the sea level. The common way to access this valley is to travel over the Khardung La pass from Leh town. Foreign nationals are required to get a protected area permit to visit the Nubra Valley. Nubra is a high altitude cold desert with rare precipitation and scant vegetation except along river beds. The villages are irrigated and fertile, producing wheat, barley, peas, mustard and a variety of fruits and nuts, including blood apples, walnuts, apricots and even a few almond trees. The majority are Buddhists. In the western or lowest altitude end of Nubra Valley near the Line of Control i.e. the Indo-Pak border, along the Shyok River, the inhabitants are Balti of Gilgit Baltistan, who speak Balti. Visit Disket monastery, camel farm and Hunder old palace and around 10 to 15 munites camel safari. Overnight : Hotel Meal : BLD Elevation : 3200 m

After breakfast drive back to Leh via sakti third highest motorable pass ( Warila – 5280 M ) in the world. Overnight : Hotel Meal : BB Elevation : 3500 m

Hemis It is the largest and most famous of all monasteries in Ladakh and was founded about 360 years ago by Stangsang Raschen who invited to Ladakh by king Singge Namgyal. He was a lama who had travelled to India and Kashmir and who had received a vision of all eighty mahasiddhas and who later realized the rainbow body. The king offered him religious estates throughout his dominions in Ladakh. The festival of Hemis Tsechu were introduced from that time on the offerings associated with the Teschu festival have been assembled annually from the 9th and 10th days of the 5th Tibetan month and the monks have performed the sacred dance devoted to the eight aspects of Guru Padmasambhava. During the Tsechu held in the year of the monkey it is possible to seen the sacred applique work tapestry wrought with pearls that depicts the precious teacher. Within the monastery there are to be seen copper gilt statue of the lord Buddha, various stupas made of gold and silver, sacred thangkas and many precious objects. There are 500 monks seside in the monastery. After visit monastery drive continue to Shang sumdo. Overnight : Camp Meal : BB Elevation : 3800 m

After Breakfast leave the camp and start trekking on the right side of the valley It’s a long and narrow village. Walk through Barely fields, Old houses, and an old Monastery about 450 years old belongs to the same tradition Drigogn Kagyut. Pass the Village you will come across a big popular tree about 250 years old surrounded by piled rocks and a Lato (village Deity Shelter ) with Prayer flags and Mane Stones. Cross the stream for couple of times before you get to the Campsite, Camp will be set up near the Pullu which is Summer Camp of the villager of Shang. The scenery around is superb, having backdrop view of the Ladakh range of mountains. On arrival at the Camp, tea or coffee and cookies will be served, later walk around the Shepherd camp and watch their activities. Overnight : Camp Meal : BLD Elevation : 4300 m

After Breakfast trek to the Northern direction towards Shang La 4840 M. Today is slightly strenuous walk till the Pass from the Pass one could get a magnificent view of Stok Khangri, the Ladakh range and bit of Zanskar ranges, Trek down to the camp for about 2 to 3 hour. Overnight : Camp Meal : BLD Elevation : 4300 m

After leaving the camp hike uphill gradually towards a small hump then again trek downhill to a small stream. Cross over two small stream before you reach to the trial to continue towards Matho La, ( 4670 M ). While ascending you could have more close view of Stok Kangri, standing right of you on the western side, and few more magnificent peaks 6100 M, Trek down to a Shepherd camp called Zurless, own by to the villager of Stok, every summer villager from Stok migrates here to find a batter pasture land and they camp till mid August. Continue for another an hour or so to get to Mankarmo, This is also known as lower Base Camp. Overnight : Camp Meal : BLD Elevation : 4670 m

From the camp easy ascend and descend walk to base – 4600 M of Stok la then from there ascending trek up to Stok la – 4900 M, From the Pass one can get a magnificent view of Kara-Koram range in the north, the Ladakh range in the west and Zanskar ranges in the south. From the pass step descend to the Rumbak village. From there continue desend walk to Zingchan and drive back to Leh. Overnight : Hotel Meal : BB Elevation : 3500 m
