Shey Gompa is about 15kms from leh. It used to be the summer place of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of stupas and Gompas built around the place. Shey place was built by Deldan Namgyal in the beginning 17th century AD. Main attraction in Shey is the12m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside the Dresthang Gompa. Thiksay Gompa, close to Shey is about 17kms from Leh. The monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Ladakh and belongs to the Gelukspa order. Hemis, about 45 Kms south of leh. It is one of the most famous and largest monastery in ladakh. It belongs to Drukpa order and was founded in the early 17th century. Nubra villey is popular know as Ldumra or the valley of flower. It is situated in the north of Ladakh Between the karakoram and Ladakh range of the himalayes. The average altitude of the valley is 10000Ft, above the sea level, The Shayok and Saichen River drain Nubra. The village look pretty with greenery ,Willow $ poplar trees. Till partition Nubra Valley was one of the trade centers , the ancient famous Silk Route pass thought this area. Before proceeding to your camp at Hunder, Stop to visit DISKET Monastery perched on a rock overhanging next to a stream , Which provides the source of energy used by mills in the area. The monastery is rich, full of thangkas, magnificent giant status, effigies of the Buddha and old mural painting in which can be noted a multitude of influences . It was found by Lama Sherab Zangpo of stod around 1420 A.D. DISKET is main village or Headquarters of Nubra villey, Which has a small market consisting of a row of shops. After your visit to the monastery and shortly after leaving Disket you will comes across and dunes on the right of the road. Double humped Camel ride at Hunder. It is indeed a strange sight since immediately on the left of the road are Rockey Mountains that characterize the Ladakh landscape and distance can be seen snow-capped mountains. overnight in your camp or Hotel at Hunder.
